Best season: anytime you fancy but remember that sometimes it can be a bit chilly up in the mountain, so be ready.

Distance: 30 minutes from Barcelona, regular daily Ferrocarrils from Plaza d’Espanya station. Find any entrance and look out for R5 tracks. The transport is called "Ferrocarril", similar to underground or train, but in between.

- Beware of:

- Pickpocketers at all times

- Buying the right tickets first time right

- Stopping at the right stops.

- The ferrocarril from Placa d’Espanya station takes you to the ground level of Montserrat mountain. You can buy extra tickets before you jump on it, to go on a cable car or “cremallera” (zip) funicular to go up where the monastery.
